An 8-minute video featuring the beta gameplay of Pokemon GO has surfaced online, and it showcases more than you ought to see before its official launch.
Backed by its huge brand name, Pokemon GO is expected to top the mobile gaming charts once developer Niantic decides to roll it out. Currently, the maker is testing it very closely among selected users in New Zealand and Australia.
The leaked video on YouTube has garnered the attention of a lot of curious viewers, especially since only a small number of people were able to participate in the beta testing of the gameplay. The video, too, doesn't disappoint. While it expectedly shows what the game will look like once the final version is released, a lot of details and spoilers are revealed in the process.
The opening line of the game "stay alert at all times and be aware of your surroundings" is what you will be greeted with. It then gives you the option to select the gender of your player, and dress them up before diving into the virtual world.
You can further personalize your avatar by giving it hair color, hair styles, face type and eye color, and choose clothing details like shirt, pants, hats and backpack. Given its location-based design, you'll be able to move around the world through the course of the game.
Pokemon GO also comes with a lot of statistics, different compendiums for the Pokemon, as well as gym fights. It further empowers you with the ability to collect 1,000 different items and catch a minimum of 30 different Pokemon.
However, if we go by the Pokedex in the game, there might be more than 30, but it's possible that you have to upgrade before you can catch more of them. The Pokedex also reveals the monster mystery where you'll be able to learn more about their strengths and abilities and train them.
One disappointing part about the video is that it ends without showing any footage on battle sequences, the presence of which has been confirmed by the beta users without divulging too many details. However, some have further leaked that the battles will take place in real time, but may not feature some of the classic battle moves the Pokemon fans are so fond of.
White it's always exciting to get a sneak peek into a highly anticipated product, it's wise to take the pre-launch details with a grain of salt. For all you know, Niantic may just overhaul some of the parts we saw right before the release.
Pokemon GO is slated to release later this year on Android and iOS.
