Now we know when this year's Sony Xperias -- at least the Xperia X and the Xperia XA -- will be released.
The two, along with the Xperia X Performance, debuted at Mobile World Congress back in February.
Since then, the most of what we've seen of the devices were preorders coming from various retailers online, though none of them actually gave away a release date either.
Thanks to Amazon, now we have that date for the Xperia X - May 20. Well, for the UK, that is.
The Sony Xperia X, as displayed on Amazon's product page, features a typical 5.0-inch 1080p HD display that makes use of Sony's proprietary Triluminos technology, a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage expandable using a microSD card slot, a huge 23-megapixel rear camera, and an average 2,620 mAh battery.
It will cost £549.99 (about $800) with free delivery anywhere in the country. "This item is due to be released on May 20, 2016," says Amazon and it should be a pretty reliable date. The device is being sold and delivered directly from Amazon itself and not via a third-party retailer.
The Sony Xperia XA, compared to the Xperia X, offers even lower specifications. The lower-end device sports the same 5.0-inch display, but with just a 720p resolution. Inside there is an eight-core Helio P10 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a modest 16 GB of onboard storage, but more can be added via a microSD card. Optically, the unit has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a barely-there 2,300 mAh battery.
The watered-down version of the Xperia X is listed with an arguably smaller price tag of £279.99 (about $400). The Xperia XA is getting a later release date of June 10 in the UK.
It's Sony's Xperia X Performance that's still missing a release date. The more premium of the three, the X Performance blazes past the other two with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor powering its internals. Besides that and an ever so slightly beefier 2,700 mAh battery, the X Performance carries over the same display, RAM, storage, and camera features as the regular Xperia X.
