Battleborn's open beta is over, but fans don't have to worry. The game is set to arrive in just a few short weeks, and now, developer Gearbox is revealing some of the key statistics behind the game's beta test.
More than two million players logged on to take Battleborn for a swing across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The community also managed to blow past several of the beta goals Gearbox had set for itself. The developer says more than 1.1 million matches of competitive multiplayer were played during the beta period, with players collecting 27 billion shards in the process. Players also played more than 1.4 million story episodes.
To celebrate those numbers, Gearbox will be giving out gold character skin codes for players to use when the game officially launches. However, those numbers are just the beginning of Gearbox's breakdown.
We also get some insight into which characters were found to be most popular. In terms of healers, it looks like the fungus ninja Miko reigns supreme, though characters like Ambra and Rath (thanks to his lifesteal) also sit at the top of the healing charts.
On the damage side of the equation, Gearbox says Oscar Mike, Marquis and Thorn are the top three choices for players looking to dish out some pain. The fact that those characters made the list isn't terribly surprising, given that they were each available at level one for players to try out.
The statistics also reveal how many players focused on the various objectives during their time with the game's competitive multiplayer. Gearbox says about 61 percent of players contributed in destroying Sentry bots in the game's Incursion mode, while only 39 percent of players helped sacrifice their robotic minions in the Meltdown gametype.
Those seem to be some fairly low numbers for an objective-driven multiplayer mode, so it will be interesting to see how they change once players are able to spend more time with Battleborn and learn the ins and outs of the game types. Battleborn releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on May 3. You can check out the full beta statistics below.
