Ilumi’s BR30 Outdoor Wants To Be The Ultimate Smart LED Bulb For Your Yard

In an effort to create more efficient lighting in outdoor spaces, Texas-based Ilumi Solutions announced on April 21 that it has launched the BR30 Outdoor LED bulb. It is now available for preorder at $69.99 and set to begin shipping out this summer.

BR30 Outdoor has an IP64 rating, which means that it can take on water (such as rain) from all angles. This gives users the ability to utilize the BR30 Outdoor in outdoor spaces, regardless of Mother Nature. Additionally, it includes patented MeshTek Bluetooth smart technology. Its connectivity means that it can be controlled with a smartphone or tablet from up to 150 feet away.

The BR30 app is available in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It allows individuals to take advantage of features such as Vacation Mode, which schedules illumination with the bulb in advance. Users can also set the BR30 bulb to work according to sunrises, sunsets and music on their smart device.

The bulb itself produces more than 1,000 lumens while only utilizing 15 watts of power. This is the equivalent brightness of a 75-100 watt incandescent. Additionally, BR30 Outdoor can be set to millions of different colors to set the mood. It includes Ilumi's patented HyperLux LED technology, which is designed to provide the same brightness and quality, regardless of the color in use.

In the future, Ilumi intends to work on integration with Nest and Amazon Echo. It hopes to expand BR30 Outdoor's compatibility with additional technology by the end of the second quarter.

Ilumi has been in business since 2014. The company's Smartbulb was featured on the hit TV show Shark Tank, and received investment from businessman Mark Cuban. Today, the company has six issued patents and a number of pending patents in smart lighting.

Aside from the BR30 Outdoor, Ilumni sells the A19 LED Smartbulb, BR30 Flood LED Smartbulb and Outdoor Flood LED Smartbulb. Each of these bulbs is controlled via Bluetooth on an Android or iOS device. However, it provides the same type of illumination that comes from standard lightbulbs at a fraction of the power.

Ilumi recently displayed its Smartbulbs in action at 2016 Bluetooth World on March 15 and 16 in Silicon Valley.
