iPhone 6 release date nears: Will you stand in line for next Apple phone?

While the Apple iPhone 6 will be announced on Sept. 9, it will likely not be available to consumers for a while after that. This, however, has not stopped Apple fans from queuing in front of the Apple store in New York.

Among those camping out are 25-year old Mississippi actress and model Moon Ray, and cousins 21-year old Joseph Cruz and 20-year old Brian Ceballo.

Despite it seeming like those camping out are hard-core Apple fans, they're actually being paid to attract attention and eventually pitch a product to those interested. Getting the top spot in line is important for them, and Moon Ray and her husband, Jason, even paid $1,250 each to Ceballo and Cruz to move ahead of them in the line.

Each of the people there have been in the line since Aug. 31 and hope to beat their own personal record of being in line for 15 days, as well as the world record of 18 days.

The cousins have sold their places in line for the past five years, making a total of around $7,000. They expect to wait in line for a total of 20 days.

While being paid to wait in line is a perk, those in line are still excited for the new iPhone.

"I've never owned an iPhone before and I'm excited," said Moon Ray. "I heard it'll have a shatterproof glass or a Sapphire glass, and that's really convenient."

The Rays have come prepared, bringing a tent and using a local YMCA to shower and use the bathroom. They even brought a solar charger to charge their phones.

The iPhone 6 will be announced on Sept. 9 and is expected to feature a larger display made from Sapphire. It will also likely include a near-field communication (NFC) chip, which is expected to be used in a new mobile payment system used by Apple.

In fact, a number of companies have already partnered with Apple to launch the new mobile payment system, including Nordstom, CVS and Walgreens.

The iPhone 6 is not the only product that Apple is expected to launch ahead of the event. It is also expected to launch the much-anticipated iWatch, the company's first offering to the smart watch world.

While the iPhone 6 is expected to go on sale around 10 days after the device is announced, the iPhone 6L, which is a larger version of the iPhone, will likely go on sale sometime in October or November. The iWatch is expected to go on sale as late as early 2015 because of production issues.
