It's time to sport your favorite team's jersey and post play-by-play status updates because fall means it's officially football time. Everybody has their favorite football team, showing off their team spirit by posting on social media with typical comments debating which team is the best. Facebook revealed what team is the most "liked" in each state by compiling its data into a map.
The color-coded map took the most "liked" team on Facebook in each county to find the most popular team in each state. With record making quarterback Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos dominate fans in its home state Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Nebraska. Dallas Cowboys, the most valuable team in the NFL at an estimated $3.2 billion, is another very well liked team on the map. Fans liked the Cowboys in its home state of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
While the Broncos and Cowboys scored the majority of middle America, only one team in the entire NFL did not win enough fans in the U.S.-the New York Jets. New Yorkers like the Giants over the other home team much like they favor the New York Yankees over the Mets.
On the west coast, football fans favor the Oakland Raiders in Los Angeles, but the 49ers and Seahawks won over most of the west. The New Orleans Saints popularity stretches across Mississippi and Alabama and The New England Patriots are popular in the states north of New York.
Thursday night's opening game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks has 8.5 million Facebook users creating more than 15 million interactions through comments, likes and posts. You can see all the latest scores in lines.com.
