Samsung outs MultiXpress printers... running on Android

Samsung made the announcement at the "Smart MultiXpress Unveiling Event" which occurred at IFA 2014 in Berlin. The multi-function printer is absolutely the first one of its kind to be built with the Android OS. It is also designed with enhanced independence, intuition, and scalability for any type of business environment.

The MultiXpress printer features a touchscreen of 10 inches that is coupled with haptic feedback. The dual feature allows the machine to print directly from device-bound software such as web browsers, mapping applications and email clients. It also has functions for previewing, editing, and annotating for an added convenience.

Samsung will also retail an optional and separate NFC Pro accessory in order to allow users in performing a fast and seamless mobile printing experience. While the spec details are scarce at the moment, Samsung confirms that the machine will be running on a dual-core processor of 1.0 GHz. The feature is an upgraded version of earlier smart printer models which are built with a mere single-core CPU.

According to the company, Samsung continues to be empowered with user-centered innovation. Its first OS-equipped MFPs that run on Android will enhance the company's smart office experience for entrepreneurs. Moreover, it will also allow for bigger multidimensional and advanced level of printing technologies.

"As our B2B customers' work styles and processes continue to become more mobile and untethered from PCs, Samsung will continue to provide new printing solutions that feature intuitive user interfaces, superior performance, and above all else, increased efficiency and productivity for the mobile and fluid workplace," said Dr. KiHo Kim, Executive VP of Printing Solutions at Samsung Electronics.

The MultiXpress series of printers includes ten new models belonging to four different categories. The latter would include the X4300 series of A3 Color MFPs; the K4350 series of A3 Monochrome MFPs; the M5370 series of A4 Monochrome MFPs; and the M4580 series of A4 Monochrome MFPs.

Apart from having the Android technology as a common feature among all the printers, each of them also has the Dual-Scan ADF feature. This allows the user to scan double-sided images at the rate of 100 images per minute for colored hard copies and 120 images per minute for copies in monochrome. From among the series of printers, it's only the X4300 that offers color printing.

Samsung is yet to announce the pricing details and date of availability for its products. With ten models to choose from, there's no doubt that one would be able to find the best type of printer that will suit his business needs.
