Canon Pixma printer fleet has one simple goal

Canon U.S.A is adding three new wireless inkjet printers to its Pixma line. These all-in-one (copy, print, scan) printers offer cloud-connected convenience and are compatible with Apple's Air Print mobile wireless printing application.

Air Print enables wireless printing from Apple computers, iPads and iPhones.

The three new models are the Pixma MG7520, MG6620 and MG5620.

The new models also work with the Pixma Printing Solutions (PPS) application and the new mobile-friendly Canon Easy-PhotoPrint web application that enables cloud-connected printing, editing and photo personalization.

PPS provides direct access to the cloud from compatible printers, mobile devices and tablets. "Users can print and scan images and documents from online social platforms and cloud storage services such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Photobucket, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive," Canon says. PPS will also offer access to technical information about Canon Pixma printers.

Productivity features of the new Pixma printers include the updated Pixma Cloud Link, which enables scanned photo and document-sharing directly via email. Canon's exclusive PictBridge (wireless LAN) function will enable wireless connections between many Canon digital cameras and wireless Canon printers, without the intervention of a computer as a transfer conduit.

Another cloud feature, Access Point Mode, allows compatible mobile devices to connect to Pixma printers over Wi-Fi from remote locations without connection to a router.

"With the introduction of these three Pixma printers, Canon aims to provide high-quality output and cloud-connectivity features that are important for the day-to-day convenience of our customers," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A. Inc. He also said that the new printers are for both home and office use.

The MG7520 offers the most advanced features of the three new models. It uses a 3.5-inch LCD touch screen for easy control. It will print stunning color pictures with six individual ink tanks that produce images at a maximum color resolution of 9600 x 2400 dots per inch (dpi). The printer also features Pixma Touch & Print (Active NFC) that allows certain Android mobile devices to connect by touching an NFC tag on top of the printer while viewing the photo on the mobile device. The Pixma MG7520 will retail for $199.99.

The midlevel MG6620 features a passive version of Touch & Print that requires the help of a local Wi-Fi network connected to both printer and device. The printer uses a five-color hybrid ink system, and features a 3-inch LCD touch screen. It will retail for $149.99.

The entry-level MG 5620 uses five ink tanks; four color photo-dedicated tanks and one pigment black ink tank dedicated for text printing. Its 2.5-inch touch screen allows easy access to printer function. The MG5620 will retail for $99.99.
