Whenever someone mentions fighting games, we automatically think brawny characters with incredible kicks and punches and even magical spells but there is a new fighting game in the Internet and it is all about science.
Illustrator Diego Sanches created pixel arts for Superinteressante Magazine's 2D side scroller combat game featuring the greatest scientific minds and with powers related to their inventions and discoveries. What he came up with was a roster of eight scientists who can fight amazingly well using six basic attacks and two special attacks.
"Pixel Art animations made for a newsgame called Science Kombat for Superinteressante magazine [...] The idea of the game is to make a link between the "powers" of each character and his or her discoveries and inventions," Sanches describes in his portfolio.
The gif of the character designs and powers were first released in February and just a little over a month after, Science Kombat is now a playable 2D side scrolling solo fighting game with single and tournament play mode. The scientists you can choose from are Marie Curie, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Sir Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla, Pythagoras and Alan Turing.
Of course, Sanches mentioned that each of the characters have special moves related to their contributions to Science so we have listed them down below.
Marie Curie: Polonium, the rare and highly radioactive element that she discovered with husband Pierre Curie. Basically she can deal radioactive kicks and punches.
Charles Darwin: Theory of Evolution and Natural Selection.
Albert Einstein: Relativity and E=MC2.
Stephen Hawking: Black Hole and Wormhole.
Sir Isaac Newton: Gravity and Optics.
Nikola Tesla: Teleforce Death Ray
Pythagoras: Pythagorean Theorem. To put it simply, he deals great blows in perfect right triangles.
The game is already in its trial phase so you can now try playing the solo or tournament mode.
