Lucifer Headed For Second Season With Fox Renewal

It seems not even the executives at Fox can resist the charms of Lucifer Morningstar because it was announced on April 7 that Lucifer is getting a second season.

That is good news for Tom Ellis, who plays the tremendously charming Lord of Hell who runs a nightclub called Lux in the city of angels and helps a female detective - who is unaffected by his charm - solve crimes. It is also bad news for everyone else who thinks the show should be cancelled because the devil is the lead character in it.

"We knew we had something special with Lucifer, from the engaging performances of Tom, Lauren and the rest of the charismatic cast, to Len Wiseman's visually stunning look of the show and the amazing storytelling savvy of the Bruckheimer team," David Madden, Fox Broadcasting Company's president for entertainment, said.

Madden may have well been under Lucifer's charm but the numbers do not lie. According to the records, Lucifer is currently Fox's second highest-rated show among the new series and holds the fifth among broadcast series rankings. On the average, Lucifer Morningstar charms around 10.5 million viewers across platforms.

Of course, the production team of Lucifer is celebrating and they made sure to flaunt Lucifer and Ellis' other assets.

Lucifer stars Ellis as the titular character and Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker, the only person who seems to be able to resist Lucifer's powers. It also has Kevin Alejandro as Detective Dan Espinoza who also happens to be Chloe's husband and Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, Lucifer's devoted ally. The other members of the supporting cast are D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lucifer's brother and Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin, Lucifer's therapist.

Lucifer airs at 9 p.m. Eastern/10 p.m. Pacific time Mondays on Fox. The April 11 episode will give a glimpse of the devil exploring his good side by becoming a benefactor at a charity.
