The Huawei P9 will be officially released in a few days, and image leaks of the handset seem to be hitting the media virtually every day.
The latest leak is something that looks like a press render and that clearly showcases the smartphone's rear side. The image shows that the handset features a dual rear camera, something that the OEM officially announced sometime ago. Another notable presence is the fingerprint scanner, which was also previously purported.
An important detail that the leaked image reveals is that the smartphone will pack a camera developed in partnership with Leica. Previous information already pointed out that Huawei will benefit from Leica's experience in crafting digital image capture hardware.
The official statement came from no other than Guo Ping, Huawei's deputy chairman.
"We are going to launch our flagship P9 phone very soon and this is a product that we worked with Leica to produce," Ping said during the company's press conference, which took place in late February in Shenzhen.
From the bits and pieces of technical details, we can say that the handset will rely on a Kirin 950 SoC for processing power that gets backed by 3 GB of RAM. Its visuals will be enjoyed on a 5.2-inch screen able to display 1080p resolutions, providing quite a consistent surface to look at the picture taken with the Leica camera. The integration of the camera and the WLAN environment represents one of the main challenges for the two partner companies.
Speaking of the P9's camera combo, you should know that it features a 5-megapixel selfie snapper and a 12-megapixel dual main camera packing support for Optical Image Stabilization.
A solid 3,000 mAh battery sits under the hood and keeps the device running, and default storage space is rumored to be of 32 GB.
The Huawei P9 will have its official release on April 6, and we will make sure to keep you posted on all the details from the launch.
The media event where Huawei will reveal its new handsets sits under the adagio, "Change the way you see the world." The Huawei P9's price is expected to be about $499, while the premium variant, the P9 Max, could require buyers to shell out $699.
