Madonna is now in the fourth decade of her career. At this point, you would think it's too late to teach an old dog new tricks. However, Madonna may be introducing some more recent technology into her music.
The legendary pop singer posted an image on Instagram of what looked like the cover art for a new single titled "Unapologetic Bitch," which had many speculating that she was getting ready to release some new tunes. Lyrics for two other new Madonna songs, "Two Steps Behind Me" and "Heartbreak City," have also reportedly been leaked online.
The hope of new Madonna music certainly has people talking. What could Madge possibly do for her 14th studio album?
Some have speculated that Madonna is enlisting the help of a collaborator she's never worked with before: Siri. You know, that service on Apple's iPhone that tells you the weather, gives you movie times and sounds a bit like a diva. Yeah. She's the one.
Some fans discovered that when you tell the Siri function, a bit rudely, "Unapologetic Bitch," Madonna's Wikipedia page pops up. Since neither the word "Siri" nor "Unapologetic Bitch" appear on the page, some speculated that this must mean Madonna will sample Siri's distinct voice, who is reportedly voiced by voiceover actress Susan Bennett, in her rumored new single.
This could either be a sign of Madonna's new duet partner or it could just be a funny coincidence. It's probably most likely that the phrase "Unapologetic Bitch" appears most often with Madonna's name online, so that's why Siri pulls up the singer's Wikipedia page. Or Siri just has some really deep-seated hatred for the pop icon.
Madonna has kind of become our eccentric aunt who is actually more embarrassing than cool when she tries to be hip, and the possibility of sampling Siri's voice in a new song adds more evidence to that statement.
These days, it's not uncommon to sample sounds of technology and machines in music. With the backing tracks of a lot of Top 40 radio created with computers rather than actual instruments, sampling Siri's voice isn't that exciting if you think about it. Plus, the glory days of Siri when she was the cool chick in the tech world have come and gone. Apple introduced Siri with the iPhone 4S back in 2011, which is eons ago in the tech world.
Madonna hasn't commented on any of the rumors regarding her new music, or even if a new album is even under way. But what does Siri have to say about all of this? If you ask her, "Are you working with Madonna," she responds with "No comment." Very sneaky, Siri.
