Rumors of the Asus Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe have been doing the rounds in the smartphone space for a few months, and now unofficial press renders of the rumored handsets have emerged online.
Asus launched the Zenfone 2 at the 2015 CES and the handset started to make its way to the market in March 2015. The company also launched the Zenfone 2 Deluxe in September 2015, which included the same hardware specs as the Zenfone 2 but was more stylish than the original version.
Smartphone enthusiasts would be waiting for the successor of the Zenfone 2 — the Zenfone 3 — and latest leaked renders suggest that Asus will launch the phone sooner rather than later.
The Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe are listed on the Red Dot 21 design awards website along with unofficial press renders, although none of these phones have been announced by the company. In the past, the website had also spilled the beans regarding the Lenovo Yoga Book.
If the leaked renders are to be believed, then the Zenfone 2 will have a LED dual tone flash on the back. The phone may have an all-metal body with no antenna lines, similar to the LG G5. A fingerprint scanner, just under the rear-facing camera, is also visible from the leaked render. The mobile phone may also have three capacitive buttons on the front.
The Zenfone 3 Deluxe has a physical middle button and two capacitive buttons.
Even though the ports are not visible from the leaked renders, rumors suggest that both the Asus phones may have USB Type-C port for faster charging and data transfer.
Speculations are rife that the Zenfone 3 may sport a 5.5-inch screen with a display resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Under the hood would be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset and 3 GB of RAM.
The phone is estimated to get 32 GB of internal memory and may have a microSD card slot for expanding the memory. The Zenfone 3 is expected to get 12-megapixel rear-facing and 8-megapixel front-facing cameras.
The Zenfone 3 Deluxe will be a bigger phone sporting a 5.9-inch screen with a 1,280 x 720 HD resolution. Other hardware specs of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe may be the same as the Zenfone 3. Both the Asus devices are speculated to come running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
Rumors also claim that Asus is planning to unveil the two devices at the Computex 2016, which starts May 31. Asus is yet to confirm the two devices and only time will tell if Asus will announce the Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe in the next couple of months.
