Asus ZenFone 2, ZenFone 2 Deluxe And Zenfone Max To Receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow In The Second Quarter

Good news for owners of the Asus ZenFone 2, ZenFone Max and the ZenFone 2 Deluxe - the smartphones will finally get updated to Android 6.0 Marsmallow by Q2 2016.

Asus smartphone owners have been waiting for the roll out of the much-awaited latest Android OS since November 2015, when the company revealed the list of devices that would benefit from the update. Now, it seems the anticipation is about to end within a couple of months.

On Friday, nearly three months after its initial announcement, Asus revealed the estimated time for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow rollout to several of its smartphones.

While the company did not give an exact date, it mentioned that the update will start making its way to the Asus devices in "Q2 of 2016," which means that one can expect the following smartphones to be updated anywhere from April to June.

The smartphones that will benefit from the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update are:

• ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
• ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
• ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)
• PadFone S (PF500KL)
• ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
• ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML and ZE551ML)
• ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
• ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)

This is an updated list as the roster Asus outed in November 2015 did not include three smartphones namely: the ZenFone Max, ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone (ZD551KL).

Asus also talked about some of the alterations the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update are expected to bring their way.

"Google Messenger, Calendar, and Gmail apps will automatically be included with the Android M update," says the post on the Asus forum.

Asus disclaimed that the configured Asus apps would not disappear if one upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but only if they performed a factory reset. Those who performed a factory reset after the update may go the Google Play to download the previous default ZenUI apps such as Asus Mail, Asus Messenger and Asus Calendar.

With a few months to go before the Android 6.0 Marshmallow's arrives to the Asus smartphones, the company will likely reveal an exact date for its release closer to the time.
