iDevice tracking site resurrects after DMCA takedown

A site which tracked iDevice stock status and was shut down after Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice, has resurrected back to life.

Apple-Tracker has now resurfaced at a new URL after being pulled down by developer Mordy Tikotzky after he received the DMCA notice from Apple for the takedown.

We recently reported that Apple-Tracker and iPhone-Check, websites which let consumers know about the stock status of Apple products, were shut down. Tikotzky shut down the site as he did not wish to be engaged in a legal battle with Apple.

"I've decided to turn off the site. I'm not doing this because I want to, but rather because I received a DMCA takedown notice (you can see the full text below) from Apple. I'm not really interested in picking a fight with apple so..... I guess it time to just say good bye," wrote Tikotzky at the time.

Later on, Tikotzky posted the code he used to collate the status of iDevice inventory to GitHub.

On Tuesday, November 12, Tikotzky took to his Twitter account to reveal that "Someone put up my code here." He also provided the URL and interestingly, the new site looks similar to the original Apple-Tracker.

Additionally, this is not the only iDevice tracking site to emerge online as a new tool to track iDevice inventory has popped up as well.

This product tracking website is hosted on Seaturtle.org, which apparently supports sea turtle conservation. When questioned about why the site was hosting the product tracking tool which has no connection with sea turtles, the makers responded that they were "Apple fanboys and we want to know when our favorite iPhone model will be available!"

Both the product tracking tools show the in-store availability status of the latest iPhone 5S, iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display.
