'My Nintendo' Rewards Program Is Live, Start Earning Points With Miitomo

Nintendo's revamped loyalty program is now live alongside its new smartphone app Miitomo, and players can start earning rewards right now.

Called My Nintendo, the new rewards program replaces the old Club Nintendo, though they do share more than a few similarities. Like Club Nintendo, players can earn various currencies to buy rewards. These currencies are earned through using Miitomo, linking social media accounts and purchasing digital Nintendo games. These coins can then be cashed in for in-app items in Miitomo, coupons for Nintendo games, full games and more.

Most of the missions currently available through the My Nintendo program involve completing various tasks in Miitomo. Players can link their Miitomo account to their various social media accounts to earn some easy platinum points. They can also receive points for changing the clothes of their Mii daily, answering questions and responding to the questions of friends.

For those who don't plan on using Miitomo, linking a Nintendo Network ID to a Nintendo account and various social media platforms is the best way to earn some fast points. Players can also log in to the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U eShop once a week to snag 30 Platinum points.

As for rewards, the most appealing prize currently available for those looking to spend Platinum points is a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess-themed Picross. The game is a My Nintendo exclusive and costs 1,000 Platinum points. Players who link their Nintendo Network ID to their account can also download the Flipnote Studio 3D app for 3DS. There are also a number of coupons ranging from 15 percent to 30 percent off for titles like Splatoon, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D and more. Players can also download 3DS themes with Platinum points.

Aside from Picross, all of the games currently available on My Nintendo must be purchased with Gold points, which are earned for purchasing games via the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U eShop. If you have the Gold points to spare, you can use them to redeem full games like Donkey Kong Country Returns and Metroid Fusion, or use your points for DLC in games like New Super Mario Bros. U and Pikmin 3.

No doubt Nintendo will be be adding more rewards in the form of games, coupons and other goodies in the future, with many of the rewards available expiring in May.
