Science Channel Searches For New Hosts For 'MythBusters'

"MythBusters" is over? I reject your reality and substitute my own.

That's exactly what the Science Channel decided when it announced that it will revive "MythBusters," which recently ended its 13-year run on the Discovery Channel. But before the series returns, the Science Channel hopes to find new hosts through a competition that will become a reality series.

With "Search for the Next MythBusters," the network hopes to find an "all-new generation of myth-busting science superstars with mind-blowing build skills and nerves of steel." The show will feature myth-busting stunts to judge potential hosts on their entertainment factor as well as their science know-how.

"When I got to the network, and we clearly identified 'MythBusters' as a franchise and something that was important to Science Channel and Discovery, and it was such a beloved show, I didn't want to let it go," Marc Etkind, Science Channel general manager said to The Hollywood Reporter. "So we looked really closely at what would be the best way to keep it going and invigorate it and thought, 'Let's host a worldwide search for the next MythBusters.'"

Fans who think they have what it takes to become the next Adam Savage or Jamie Hyneman can soon send in a video to the network to show that they aren't just smart and inquisitive, but also have what it takes to become a real MythBuster. The Science Channel will choose 15 people from those submissions to take part in the reality series competition, and challenge them with myths to bust or confirm. Eventually, the show will narrow down the future "MythBusters" hosts.

For more information on the reality series, as well as submission guidelines, be sure to keep an eye on the official Science Channel website.

"MythBusters" quickly became a hit for the Discovery Channel when it debuted in 2003, thanks to the wit and wisdom of its hosts, Savage and Hyneman. Eventually, the series included Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara, but its last season focused on its two original hosts. The Science Channel will let the competition decide who becomes MythBusters next and depending on what happens in "Search for the Next MythBusters," the series could have any number of people in its cast.
