T-Mobile has become the latest carrier to ship a company's flagship smartphone ahead of its official global release date. The LG G5 is supposed to be available in the U.S. on April 1, but some have already made it to owners.
As smartphones continue to target soccer moms as much as technology professionals and fans, handset manufacturers and carriers are now including high-end extras, like Samsung's Gear VR headset for customers who ordered the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge. Several U.S. carriers deviated from Samsung's official March 11 global release date and pleased loyal customers who preordered the devices to get their Galaxy S7 or S7 edge before its March 11 official release date.
T-Mobile was the first carrier to begin shipping the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge and it beat all other carriers, with some lucky customers receiving their Galaxy S7 and S7 edge as early as Feb. 29. Not to be outdone by T-Mobile, and which we exclusively reported thanks to our readers sending us tips, AT&T and Sprint decided to begin shipping its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge early, and Verizon and Best Buy joined in the party rather late and shipped and allowed in-store pickups of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge a couple of days earlier than the March 11 global release.
It looks like carriers are giving the same treatment to LG's 2016 flagship and modular smartphone and have begun shipping preorders to customers, with some already receiving their LG G5 ahead of its official April 1 U.S. release date.
