At the rate things are going, it appears we might lose another Hollywood star before the year comes to a close. Popular comedian Joan Rivers is reported to be in serious condition, and could also at this point in time be on life support. The good news is her family is still remaining hopeful that the star will improve and pull through this ordeal.
Not long ago Rivers was reported to be in stable condition, unfortunately, it quickly changed to critical condition, according to several media outlets. We've come to understand that Rivers is in this condition right now after she experienced cardiac arrest due to a recent vocal cord surgery. Some say the comedian has stopped breathing, which may be why doctors have placed her in a medically-induced coma.
In a small chit chat with Deadline, Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa, stated that her mother is in serious condition, but she did not specify. Furthermore, she went ahead and thanked the fans who have been showing a plethora of support for her mother.
"My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery."
Joan Rivers kicked off her career back in the 1950s, but didn't get that big break until 1968 when she was hired to host "That Show with Joan Rivers." In fact, it was because she came on the "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" back in 1965 that she was given the big break.
Her career went on with success after success to the point where she was awarded an Emmy and a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In recent times, Rivers stormed out of a CNN interview after she claimed the interviewer was being too mean. She didn't even get the chance to talk about her book as she was too busy answering questions about animal rights and taking jokes too far. She was having none of it, and just stormed out without ever returning.
At this point in time, Joan Rivers is 81 years old.
