Samsung India is poised to officially announce the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) on March 31 and highlights the event with a new promotional ad that bears the hashtag "#TapKickVroom."
On its official site, Samsung advises consumers to "watch out for the new smartphone that will change the way you ride" and indicates March 31, 2016 as the date when the "mystery" is set to unfold. The ad features Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor holding a Samsung handset in one hand while clinging on a bike helmet with another.
Rumor has it that the soon to be announced handset will feature a new "Bike Mode," which will allow bike riders to go on an uninterrupted ride every time it is turned on. Once the phone is on Bike Mode, it will automatically send a text in reply to callers as a way of telling them that they can try to call again at a later time.
With Bike Mode, riders can simply concentrate on their riding and stop worrying about checking notifications on their phones or answering phone calls while they are in the middle of the road.
The device in question is speculated to be the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) which currently retails at $179. Seeing Kapoor in the promotional video may not be that surprising, since the Bollywood actor was also seen in the promotional videos released last year for the company's Galaxy J lineup.
The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is a 5-inch device that features an AMOLED HD display with a pixel resolution of 720 x 1,280. It comes with a Snapdragon 410 SoC, quad-core CPU, a 1.5 GB RAM, Adreno 306 GPU and 16 GB internal storage that can be expanded. Other notable details include a 5 MP rear camera, 2 MP front selfie camera, 2,600 mAh battery and a pre-installed Android 5.1.
"Get ready for some chill time on your ride! Guess what #TapKickVroom is & Tweet to win an exciting gift," said Samsung Mobile India in a tweet.
While Samsung is yet to unveil the mystery gift for lucky contest participants, it promises to announce the winners during the handset's launch event on March 31. The special event will also have a Live Webcast and is expected to be well-attended by Samsung's multitude of fans.
