Dell is poised to revive the Alienware gaming desktop model Area 51 after an eight-year hiatus. In its new avatar, Area-51 is set to become a gamer's delight thanks to the groundbreaking triad chassis post the makeover.
The "reimagined" Area-51 model is leaps ahead of its classic desktop predecessor and design-wise, it's evolved from the rectangular box-like shape to a natty hexagon design.
"We're excited to reveal the reimagined Alienware Area-51, a system that is the result of 18 years of innovation fueled by our love of gaming," revealed Frank Azor, General Manager of Alienware.
The new and improved Area-51 model also touts a top-end processor, as well as a chipset from Intel and is designed to be a powerhouse of a gaming machine. The innovative triad chassis promotes "best-in-class ergonomics" and "superior cooling."
"It features an angled, easily accessible front I/O panel and hassle-free grips that make it simple to pivot your system forward to reach rear ports," reads Alienware's description.
The system also endorses Ultra HD 4K experiences for gaming enthusiast and the internal fans ensure that fresh, cool air circulates inside keeping the graphic cards and cables cool. This feature enables the machine to deliver optimum performance. Moreover, the angular shape of Area-51 makes provisions for a big space from where hot air can exit, which is an advantage over the small space in a rectangular chassis.
Alienware's revamped Area-51's specs also packs a mean punch and can be configured according to the requirements of a gamer. The system will feature an Intel Haswell-E processor (inclusive of the 6- or 8-core variants). It will support up to 32GB of 2213 DDR4 memory, as well as three graphics cards from AMD or Nvidia.
Area-51 also has all your storage needs sorted as it will pack in two SSDs and up to three traditional hard drives. The system has a built-in Wireless-AC and users have the option to install a 1.5 kilowatt power supply. The "Command Center" from Alienware also gets an update with version 4.0.
Area-51 is expected to hit the U.S. shelves in October, which will be followed by a global launch. The pricing of the system is yet to be disclosed by the company.
