HTC 10 To Be Released On April 15?

HTC has announced a press event for April 12, where it will launch its 2016 flagship smartphone. A new report claims the HTC 10 (One M10) will be released on April 15.

HTC is getting a late start in launching its new flagship smartphone than it has in previous years. Luckily, the wait won't be much longer now that the company has confirmed it will be holding a press event on April 12.

HTC has been hyping its upcoming HTC 10 (One M10) smartphone for the last couple of weeks, even taking shots at Samsung's Galaxy S7 and LG's G5 during an interview, saying, "We can confidently say that HTC will have a very, very compelling camera experience. We're making this comment after we've seen what's going on in the market," shortly after its rivals unveiled their 2016 flagship smartphones at Mobile World Congress.

Most recently, the HTC 10 was spotted in the wild running AnTuTu benchmark and the results, if true, show it outperforms smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Apple iPhone 6s.

A new report claims HTC will release the HTC 10 (One M10) on April 15 in Taiwan, the company's home country. Earlier reports suggested the smartphone could be released on April 19.

The HTC 10 (One M10) is expected to feature a 5.1-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD Super LCD 5 display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will reportedly be offered in 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB models and include a microSD expansion slot to increase storage. It will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and HTC Sense 8.0.

The HTC 10's camera capabilities will reportedly be equipped with a 12-megapixel UltraPixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), laser autofocus, and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The smartphone is expected to pack in a large 3,000 mAh battery.

While there's no word on an official U.S. release, we should learn those details and more on April 12. As always, we'll keep you posted on any additional HTC 10 (One M10) details as they become available.
