The Force continues to be awakened in the mobile strategy game Star Wars: Commander.
Disney Interactive announced on Thursday that it launched a new series of objectives for a limited time that adds Maz Kanata from The Force Awakens to the game.
Players at headquarters level four and up will be able to participate in the new tasks. Maz Kanata will appear through the InfoNet newspaper as well as the Planetary View to ask for players' help for a series of tasks.
Players who accept the request will find that each planet in the galaxy has a different set of objectives. This keeps things fresh and exciting. Completing the tasks won't go unrewarded, either. The Force-sensitive smuggler will reward the player with "Maz's Curio Boxes," which are the character's unique spin on Supply Crates. These crates will feature new "infiltrator" units known as Trandoshan mercenaries that can disable enemy shields when in combat. Use these mercenaries to easily access and take over enemy bases.
Fans of the franchise already know that Maz Kanata was the character played by Lupita Nyong'o using motion capture in The Force Awakens. What you might not remember is that she used her Force to be able to track down Luke Sykwalker's lightsaber — which she tried to give to Rey before passing it along to Finn.
This is not the first time Disney Interactive introduced The Force Awakens content to its popular mobile combat strategy game. In December, the game got an update that allowed players to explore Takodana, the planet that is home to Maz Kanata's castle. It only makes sense that Maz Kanata would eventually play a larger role, even if it's just for a limited time.
The previous update also let players engage in PVP Conflict using the new Dowutin Hunter and Luggabeast Munitioneer mercenaries that were inspired by the film.
The game's February update brought with it a new Night Raids mode, where planets now have a 24-hour cycle. When it's night in real life, it's also night in the game, and players can still raid enemies. This enables players to compete in two Heroic Defense challenges per day.
Star Wars: Commander is available to download for free for iOS and Android.
