For those that are always looking for the best deals when it comes to digital content, Google has launched an offer of a 75 percent discount on movie rentals through Google Play.
The promotional offer, which is only good for one movie rental, will apply the discount to the listed prices on Google Play Store.
The offer will only be up for a limited time until April 28, so users will have more than a month to decide on which movie to rent.
There is no restriction of movies that the discount can be applied to; meaning newer releases such as The Revenant, The Martian and The Big Short can be chosen. This is different from previous movie rental promotions offered by Google Play, as while steep discounts were likewise offered, only a pre-selected list of movies can be chosen from. Google Play will still be offering suggestions with the current offer, but the discount applies to any movie that can be rented out by users.
The downside is that the customers will only be able to enjoy movies that have the rental option, as there are some titles that only have the purchase option.
In addition, only Google Play customers from the United States, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Great Britain, France and Germany could avail the discount.
Upon clicking on a movie to rent, the pop-up that will appear should state that "you can apply your rental reward at checkout." The price of most HD movie rentals are at $5 while those for SD movie rentals are at $4, so with the discount applied, users will be looking at $1.25 for an HD movie rental and $1 for an SD movie rental.
In other news regarding the Google Play Store, streaming service Netflix accidentally released a new beta version for its Android app, which included new features such as the mobile data saver mode. The app has since been taken down from the Google Play Store.
