Last week, Sony announced that preorders for the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle will soon be made available to gamers looking to get into virtual reality with their PlayStation 4 consoles. Included in the bundle are the PlayStation VR headset and its cables, stereo headphones, the PlayStation Camera, a pair of PlayStation Move controllers and the PlayStation VR Worlds that will function as a demo for the technology.
The bundle will go up for preorders beginning on Tuesday (March 22) for $499.99, but interested customers will need to act fast as there will only be limited quantities for the bundle.
Gamers can also choose to purchase the PlayStation VR core bundle only for a lower price of $399.99. The bundle will not come with the PlayStation Camera and the pair of PlayStation Move controllers, as only the components integral to the virtual reality experience will be included.
Preorders were supposed to be only accepted for the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle. However, Sony updated its previous blog post that contains the announcement to change that.
The update now says that because the high levels of interest expressed by gamers in acquiring the PlayStation VR core bundle, Sony has decided to open preorders for that particular bundle as well.
Preorders for the PlayStation VR core bundle will begin in one week, specifically March 29, starting from 7:00 a.m. Pacific.
Gamers who pushed for PlayStation VR core bundle preorders are most likely those who already have the other PlayStation 4 accessories required for the system to work. It would then be wasteful to purchase the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle and end up with duplicates of the accessories, but it could take a long time for orders to arrive if gamers wait for the PlayStation VR core bundle to start selling.
Interest on PlayStation VR has been steadily growing, with the latest news on the technology revealing that all PlayStation 4 titles can be played on the PlayStation VR headset through its cinematic mode.
