Google Rolls Out Nexus 5X Update With Cool Color Temperature Toggle, Other Performance Improvements

Google has pushed out the Nexus 5X software update that comes with a cool color temperature toggle alongside general performance enhancements.

It is believed that the new cool color temperature toggle is intended to fix the yellow screen problem.

The Mountain View-based company has released the March security update for its Nexus devices, which include one of the newest Nexus handsets, the Nexus 5X.

Activating the new feature, which is included in the most recent software build MHC19J, will turn the Nexus 5X's screen blue-ish or cooler.

A report from Phone Arena says that it is possible that this new option will be particularly beneficial if the user owns a 5X unit with a yellow screen. Earlier, the yellow tint problem was among the first issues that cropped up upon releasing the phone.

The Nexus 5X first hit the market back in October 2015, alongside the Nexus 6P. The former is deemed midrange phone and, of course, is cheaper than the latter. While the specs of the Nexus 5X are inferior than the Nexus 6P, the 5X is still considered among the best Android phones to snag on the market to date.

How To Activate The Cool Color Temperature Toogle

Here are a few simple steps to follow if you wish to switch the option on.

1. Your Nexus 5X must have to be updated to the MHC19J build of the Android Marshmallow. To check out, head on over to Settings > About Phone.

2. If this LG Nexus phone already comes with the newest build, it is now time to enable the cool color temperature toggle by going to Settings > Developer Options.

It seems that Google is making this toggle a standard option on all devices which are going to run the next version of the mobile operating system of Google, the Android N. The cool color temperature toggle is listed as among the nifty features that the Android N does offer.

The Android N currently carries the moniker NYC or New York Cheesecake. However, as with the previous Android versions, this is not going to be the commercial name of the OS once it is officially introduced.

We have yet to hear when the final form of the Android N will be rolled out, but we'll likely to know more about this OS this coming I/O developer conference. Speculations are rife that it could come out within the year.
