'Oh, The Places It'll Snow' Mashes 'Game Of Thrones' With A Dr. Seuss Classic

Here's a candidate for "most unlikely crossover fan project": a Game of Thrones-themed take on the popular children's book Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss titled Oh, the Places It'll Snow.

The digital Seussian send-up, which was uploaded to Imgur on March 14, reimagines the story of perpetual fan favorite (and now perpetually deceased character) Jon Snow as the launch for the book's premise, and eventually expands to include other Starks, Lannisters, and most of the big names in the series.

The parody book is illustrated by artist Alex Cohen, who posted a brief explanation for the project on the Imgur page.

"A fun project that I've been working on for a few months now — I rewrote the Dr. Seuss poem Oh, The Places You'll Go with a Game of Thrones twist, and then illustrated it as a book!" Cohen commented. "Took a long time but I like how it came out."

For an idea of how the book sounds exactly like it was written by a Dr. Seuss who happened to be George R.R. Martin's No. 1 fan boy, here are some sample stanzas:

"You've got a sword in your hand, / you have taken the black. / But once you've said your vows / you can never go back. / You're on your own. / And you know what you know. / But unfortunately you know NOTHING Jon Snow."

"On and on you will march, / and I know you'll march far, / and face up the White Walkers, / wherever you are."

As Mashable pointed out, the themes in both the GoT parody book and the Dr. Seuss original bear quite a resemblance: like Oh, the Places You'll Go, Cohen's illustrated tome is also a sort of pre-coming-of-age tale for tiny readers. And like the show the crossover part is based on, the book doesn't stick on one character for too long: Arya Stark, Daenerys, Tyrion Lannister, a few White Walkers here and there, and even more characters make cameos on its (Internet) pages.

All in all, it's kind of extraordinary for the reader to realize that two works that seem so vastly different could have so much in common — and that both books, when completed, will still make you feel warm and hopeful inside.
