Actor Ian McShane isn't great at keeping secrets. Despite the new season of HBO's Game of Thrones being shrouded in mystery (HBO isn't even letting critics see episodes early), it seems McShane has let one major spoiler out of the bag during an interview with BBC Radio.
Major Game of Thrones Season Six Spoilers Below!
Seriously!
When asked about his role on the upcoming season of the show, McShane elaborated further on previous statements, saying he plays a "former warrior who has renounced violence and now leads a peace cult" in a one-off episode.
He goes on to say that he nurses a much-loved character back to life. Though he initially wouldn't say whether the character was a he or a she, after host Sarah Brett said it could only be the Hound or Jon Snow, McShane relents and says, "I think you might guess which one it is. It's not the latter, it might be the former."
This, of course, matches up with what McShane has previously teased. Game of Thrones fans are a clever bunch, and they quickly guessed that, in all likelihood, the actor was involved in nursing the Hound back to health. This all but confirms it, though what role the Hound still has to play in the world of Westeros is unclear. Fans thought the character dead after his brutal encounter with Brienne of Tarth, after which the Hound begged for Arya Stark to put him out of his misery. She refused, leaving the broken and battered warrior to die a slow, painful death.
Or not, as it turns out. The question still remains how the Hound will have changed since we last saw him. Will he still be the dangerous, yet endearing character fans came to love? Will he return to King's Landing? Or will he live out the rest of his days in solitude, aways from the politics of the Lannisters? Fans will have to wait and see.
