It's strange that fans haven't seen more of the BioShock franchise recently. The games have all been critically-acclaimed a commercial success (even BioShock 2), and yet, there's been no news of any new BioShock project since the third game launched back in 2013.
Considering how many sub-par series get annual releases, how is it that one of the most-revered franchises in gaming hasn't been heard from in nearly three years?
Many gamers believe it's because 2K Games is gearing up for something of a BioShock revival, and rumors of a current-gen compilation have been floating around for months. Previously, there wasn't much evidence to support those claims, but the Internet may have just stumbled upon the confirmation they've been looking for.
It's far from an official confirmation, but Twitter user Lifelower has unearthed a Taiwanese listing and box art for a BioShock series compilation, simply titled BioShock: The Collection. The listing seemingly confirms that, not only is the collection in development, but it'll be headed to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC sometime soon.
This is the part where we remind everything that this is, in absolutely no way, an official confirmation. Yes, 2K Games has been quiet lately, and yes, the rumors of a BioShock collection have been around for some time now — but as always, until 2K Games makes an official statement, nothing has been officially confirmed.
Though, to be fair, this is the most legitimate evidence of the collection's existence to make its way online: the thumbnail is too small to tell if it's real or not, but it certainly looks like a professionally-made piece of box art. On the other hand, the listing itself doesn't reveal much in the way of actual information, and there's always the chance that someone created a fake listing as a hoax. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that something like this has happened — Fallout 4 was the subject of numerous fake reveals before Bethesda officially announced the game.
As it stands, there's no way of knowing whether or not the BioShock collection is real. It's possible that 2K Games could come out and make a statement, but that's not very likely — if the collection is in development, gamers shouldn't expect to see something before E3 2016 in June.
