Anyone who has an interest in the "Suicide Squad" film already probably heard of Jared Leto's extreme method acting on and off the production set. Leto's co-stars were even the recipients of some sick presents from the actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman, but Director David Ayer seems to remember the less insane moments during the filming.
According to Ayer, more than the actor's consistent portrayal of Joker and his penchant for giving disturbing gifts - like a box of bullets for Will Smith and a live rat for Margot Robbie - Leto's presence as the Joker was incredible that the crew would always seem like they are in a trance when the actor walks by and he had to snap them out of it.
We all know Leto went all out on his portrayal of Joker, but who wouldn't, considering his predecessors were praised for their interpretation.
"What Jared has done is absolutely incredible. When he steps onto the set the world stops. Everything stops. What he's done is so powerful, so menacing, so palpable, you can feel him. The crew stops working and just watches him. I have to get everybody going again because he's so fascinating," Ayer said in an interview.
While Leto's antics may have been a little extreme, if even the director is so entranced by his performance, then it must mean that his Joker may really reach the level of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger's performance.
Warner Brothers' "Suicide Squad" is an adaptation of the comic books of the same name and features Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, the director of the Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans (A.R.G.U.S.) who forms a group of supervillains tasked to go on a potentially suicide mission in exchange for clemency.
"Suicide Squad" will be wreaking havoc in cinemas on Aug. 5. Watch the trailer below to get yourself excited.
