Philips has created a new invention that boasts the ability to wake you up "more naturally" and make you fall asleep "more peacefully" with the use of "every shade of white light" – the Philips Hue white ambiance.
This light bulb, which could perhaps be the next favorite of smart home fans, is built to deliver all the shades of white light, ranging from cool daylight (6,500 k) to warm white (2,200 k).
With the help of the accompanying app or through the dimmer switch, Philips says the bulb will give you "access to light recipes" that will aid in keeping you feel more relaxed or energized.
"Light impacts us both physically and emotionally, we experience this every day when waking up and going to sleep," says Chris Worp, the leader of Philips home lighting business.
This new connected lighting system, according to Worp, will let people manage the impact of white light on their lives. With this lightbulb, they are able to select the ideal light they need based on a specific activity. For instance, they can choose a particular mode when they want to be energized and they can select a dimmed setting should they want to easily fall asleep.
Features Of The Philips Hue App
The company will push out the Philips Hue App that will be used in controlling the Philips Hue white ambiance. This app comes packed with various features.
1. Wake Up Routine
As its name implies, this feature helps you in waking up naturally by increasing the brightness of the lightbulb.
2. Go To Sleep Routine
This feature imitates the setting of the sun, which means the app slowly dims the light until it is off.
3. Nightlight
This feature is especially beneficial to those who need to get up in the middle of the night. This setting produces low level of light while also minimizing users' exposure to blue light to lessen the disturbance to their sleep cycle.
Availability And Pricing
This lightbulb is set to come out this coming spring. Its price, however, has yet to be revealed.
Once released, it will be competing with the C Sleep bulb from GE, which bears similarity with what the Philips Hue white ambiance offers.
In the meantime, Google also fitted a night light mode into its Google Play Books in hopes to make low-light reading comfy on the eyes of its users at night, without the side effect of losing restful sleep. This handy feature was added into the Google Play Books update 3.7.45 that was rolled out in December 2015.
