Four-Way Ultrabook Battle: Dell XPS 13 vs. Microsoft Surface Book vs. Asus Zenbook UX305 vs. Lenovo Yoga 900

A number of companies such as Dell, Asus, Microsoft and more offer Ultrabooks. Four of the most popular Ultrabooks on the market today are Dell XPS 13, Microsoft Surface Book, Asus Zenbook UX305 and Lenovo Yoga 900.

Here's a quick comparison of these four Ultrabooks.

Screen and Display

The Asus Zenbook UX305 sports a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology. The device has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The Dell XPS 13 has a 13.3-inch UltraSharp infinity display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 or 3200 x 1800 pixels.

The Lenovo Yoga 900 also touts a 13.3-inch screen, which has QHD+ IPS Display. The device has a 3200 x 1800 pixel resolution.

At 13.5 inches, the Surface Book has a slightly bigger screen. The Microsoft offering has a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels.

Processor and RAM

Customers can get the Asus Zenbook UX305 with up to Intel Core m7 for its processor and 8GB of RAM.

The Dell XPS 13, Yoga 900 and Surface Book are customizable up to the 6th generation Intel Core i7 for their processor and up to 16GB of RAM.

Form Factor

The Dell offering measures 12.75 x 8.89 x 0.49 inches and weighs between 2.7 lbs and 2.9 lbs.

The Asus Ultrabook measures 12.75 x 8.89 x 0.48 inches and weighs 2.65 lbs.

The Lenovo Yoga 900 measures 12.75 x 8.86 x 0.59 inches; the starting weight of the device is 2.8 lbs.

The Microsoft Surface Book measures 12.30 x 9.14 x 0.51 to 0.90 inches; its weight starts at 3.34 lbs (including the keyboard), which makes it the heaviest of the lot.

Storage

Customers opting for one of the Asus, Dell or Lenovo Ultrabooks may customize their device to get up to 512 SSD.

However, the Surface Book is also available with up to 1TB of SSD.

All these devices have SD card readers, which can be used for expanding the memory if the need arises.

Camera

The Dell, Lenovo and Asus Ultrabooks have a 720p HD webcam. However, the Surface Book has a better 1080p front as well as rear-facing cameras.

Operating System

The Dell XPS 13, Microsoft Surface Book, Asus Zenbook UX305 and Lenovo Yoga 900 run on Windows 10 Home or Pro editions.

Connectivity

All the Ultrabooks have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Price

Dell's XPS 13 has a starting price of $799.99 while the Lenovo Yoga 900 costs $1199.99.

The Asus Zenbook UX305 is the cheapest of the four Ultrabooks and is currently available for $599.

The Surface Book is the most expensive Ultrabook of the lot with a starting price of $1499.
