Leaked case image of the unannounced 9.7-inch iPad Pro suggests that the upcoming Apple tablet will have a smart connector and LED flash.
Apple launched the 12.9-inch iPad Pro at an event in September 2015. However, the successor of the iPad Air 2, also dubbed the 9.7-inch iPad Pro or iPad Air 3, missed the party. Previous rumors speculated that Apple will launch the 9.7-inch version of the iPad Pro at an event on March 22. However, Apple has started sending out invitation for a press event on March 21.
Apple has not confirmed the existence of the smaller iPad Pro but rumors of the devices had started months ago. Leaked images of the purported case of the upcoming tablet are already surfacing in the market, which hints at the imminent launch of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
A Twitter user has leaked the latest image of Apple's upcoming tablet's case.
If the leaked photos are to be believed then the case has space for Smart Connector, which is similar to the one found on the original iPad Pro.
"The Smart Connector is a new interface that takes advantage of the two-way conductive fabric in the Smart Keyboard. It allows iPad Pro to provide power to the Smart Keyboard and lets the Smart Keyboard relay each of your keystrokes back to iPad Pro," says Apple.
Previous rumors had suggested that the next-generation 9.7-inch iPad will have LED flash. The alleged case of upcoming tablet has a bigger camera cut out, which suggests that the smaller iPad Pro may have a LED flash.
Speculations were also made that the iPad Air 3 will also have four speakers. However, the case does not have extra space for additional speakers.
The specs of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro are not known but rumors point that Apple may include the A9X processor - the same used in the iPad Pro - in the iPad Air 3. Apple's next tablet may also include RAM in the range of 2 GB to 4 GB.
The smaller iPad Pro may also support Apple Pencil, which was revealed alongside the iPad Pro.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro is not the only device that Apple plans to launch on March 21. The company is also estimated to unveil the 4-inch iPhone 5se, the successor of the iPhone 5c.
iDevice lovers will have to wait until March 21 to see the products that Apple will launch at the event.
