Watch This 'Real Life Hitman' Controlled By Remote Players

Agent 47 has been given the game-meets-life treatment. The studio that hosted a live-action first-person shooter game now has returned with a real-life version of Hitman.

Last time, with its Real Life First Person Shooter, British production company Realm Pictures sought out random users from chat randomization services like Chatroulette. The users prompted the flesh-and-blood protagonists in an effort to fend off a horde of zombie in a real-world setting that was built out with common video game concepts.

This time, Realm Pictures turned to a select group of YouTube personalities to control the nameless assassin with a barcode tattooed on the base of his head.

"Just after we released the Real Life First Person Shooter, a game studio got in touch and asked if there was a way to make a real-life version of their game," stated Realm Pictures before introducing a compilation of the Real Life Hitman action, which is a game made by IO Interactive.

To make the experience even more true to the game, Hitman voice actor David Bateson was called in to reprise his role. Instead of keyboard input this time, the players whispered commands to Agent 47 via his earpiece.

The YouTubers worked in teams, with each group given an hour with the assassin under their control. In typical series fashion, the players were tasked with guiding the agent through an assassination, then go away safely from the conflict zone.

The real-life FPS was fairly learned, stated director David Reynolds. But for the Real Life Hitman, the studio had to open up the environment for multiple pathways and points for attack.

"Owing to the nature of the Hitman games, we knew that people would be trying anything to try to eliminate the target or anybody that gets in their way. So everything from fire alarms, to bottles, to hammers, to wrenches to [a statue] was changed to foam props. A couple of players even tried to push [the statue] over to take out the target that way."
