CBS announced on Tuesday that the Melissa Benoist-led "Supergirl" television series was renewed for a second season. On Wednesday, the network also announced that the long hoped for "Supergirl" and "The Flash" crossover is finally happening!
The network already released a new poster for the epic crossover episode, as well as some details with regard to the plot, and long-time fans of Superman or The Flash will probably recognize what the series is paying homage to. Take a look at the full promotional art for the special episode below to see if it will jog your memory.
The promo art takes cues from the cover of "Superman" comics #199, which featured the first-ever race between Superman and The Flash, except, instead of other DC superheroes cheering them on, they have characters from the television series.
People have been waiting for the crossover to happen since The Flash caught a glimpse of other DC heroes in alternate universes and that is exactly what will happen in the special episode titled "World's Finest."
The Flash will find himself lost and confused after stumbling in the alternate universe where Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, is the hero. In exchange for help in getting back to his own universe, The Flash will help Supergirl fight the Silver Banshee and Livewire, or as the synopsis puts it, Kara agrees to help The Flash if he helps her defeat the two villains.
It also seems the two superheroes will be on each other's good side as CBS promises super-flirting on top of an action-packed and exciting episode.
Grant Gustin crosses over as The Flash in this special episode airing March 28 at 8 p.m. EST.
