CW's The Flash has proven to be a big hit both for the network and DC, so when Supergirl started airing on CBS, some fans wondered if a crossover between the shows would even be possible.
Turns out it is, as DC has just announced that Grant Gustin's Flash will be making an appearance in an upcoming episode of Supergirl for an epic team-up that fans have been dreaming about for months. Though The Flash and Supergirl both share executive producers, it was long unclear if CBS and CW could work out their differences to allow for a team-up to happen.
Details about the episode haven't been revealed just yet, but the release date has. Fans will be able to watch the crossover episode on Monday, March 28 on CBS.
"We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl — The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!" The Flash and Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg say over on the official DC Entertainment blog. "We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone's enthusiasm and support."
The Flash and Arrow have crossed over in the past, and even NBC's cancelled Constantine managed to cross over with Arrow when Matt Ryan's John Constantine appeared on the show.
All that remains now is for Fox's Gotham to join the wider DC television universe. That's a little trickier, however, as the show is a prequel story to Batman, focusing more on the creations of Gotham's iconic villains than Batman himself. Still, it would be cool to see all of DC's shows linked together, despite being on four different networks. We'll keep you posted on more details about the Supergirl/Flash crossover as they become available.
