'The Stanley Parable' wanders into 'Silent Hill'

Stanley found himself in a different kind of game, with terrifying consequences.

YouTube user "Its a Mirage" has created a video with a very interesting contrast: the first five minutes of the "P.T." demo for the next Silent Hill game coupled with some of the wry narration from indie game The Stanley Parable.

The result of the mash-up is surprisingly coherent, quite a feat considering one is a horror game and the other is humorous.

"P.T." was a playable teaser released as a download for PlayStation 4 earlier this month, where it was revealed that it was actually a demo for an upcoming entry into Konami's Silent Hill franchise. The horror gameplay features the protagonist inside a killer's home, unable to leave. Puzzles and scares await the player as they continuously walk through the house.

The Stanley Parable is an indie title that began as a 2011 mod for Half-Life 2, but was released as a standalone game in October 2013. The game is humorously narrated as you control Stanley as he moves through an empty office building and encounters some rather strange things. The resulting game becomes a rumination on the nature of narratives and of choice in video games.
