Wanna see something really scary?
Konami has been releasing videos of people reacting to the frightening playable teaser for its upcoming horror game Silent Hills. The combination of nearly photo-realistic visuals, creepy atmosphere and sudden jump scares seem to take its toll on anyone with a controller in their hands. And for a horror game, there is no better marketing strategy than this.
The first video of people's reactions to "P.T." showed a more international audience. The two new videos show Japanese girls and Japanese women being disturbed by the game. All the shouting and screaming in these videos is enough to make your skin crawl as well.
In a brilliant piece of marketing, "P.T." was posted on the PlayStation Network store with little information beyond that it was a horror game. It was only after enduring an hour or so worth of puzzles, scares and uneasiness did players learn that it was a teaser for latest entry in the Silent Hill franchise.
When "P.T." is beaten, it is also revealed that Hideo Kojima, the auteur behind the Metal Gear game series, and Guillermo del Toro, the director of such films as "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Pacific Rim," will be making the game. Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl on "The Walking Dead" television show, plays the protagonist.
Silent Hills will be released in 2016, for PlayStation 4. Additional platforms have not been announced yet.
