Hello Games, the publisher and developer of No Man's Sky, has confirmed the release date of the upcoming video game and announced an Explorer's Edition made by production company iam8bit.
The Windows PC version of the adventure survival game will receive a limited edition box set called the Explorer's Edition, which will have a retail price of $149.99.
Iam8bit will sell only 10,000 units of the limited edition box set, which is currently available for preorder at the company's site and will start shipping in June this year.
Gamers interested in the No Man's Sky Explorer's Edition will get a PC key for the game, which costs $60 in the U.S. Customers will have the option to get either a GOG or a Steam key. Buyers will also get a hand-painted cast metal replica of one of the game's ships and custom decals.
What's more, the box set includes an atlas display base and a removable background display. The package also includes a hard enamel traveller pin, which can be bought separately for $10, and a mystery item that will be revealed during the game's launch.
"Like all of iam8bit's products, this is a lovingly crafted package, designed to evoke a sense of space nostalgia via the inclusion of a tin toy-style ship replica. We've spared no expense to achieve hyper-detail, constructing the ship from a high-quality metal cast and then hand-painting each with precision. And much like the game, this collectible allows for a personal touch, providing an array of decals that can be applied to the ship's body," says iam8bit.
Customers can make a savings of $60 as individual components of the limited edition pack totals up to $210 as separate items.
Apart from the Explorer's Edition, iam8bit is also offering a vinyl soundtrack for $35, which includes original game music on two LP discs. The company also has some Atlas t-shirts in blue and charcoal colors priced at $23, a launch day game poster for $25 poster, a deluxe art card set for $20 and a few 36 x 12-inch prints worth $50 each.
The merchandise is the first set of items as a result of the collaboration between iam8bit and Hello Games. The game developer says more No Man's Sky merchandise will be released in the near term.
After a few delays, No Man's Sky is finally set to release for Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC in North America on June 21 this year. Gamers in the UK will have to wait slightly longer as it will be available on June 24.
