No Man's Sky has quite a few promises to live up to. The team behind the game has promised a near-infinite universe to explore, complete with space ships, laser pistols and hulking alien lifeforms. It sounds great, there's no denying that - but, aside from a few short demos shown last year, players haven't actually seen much of the game. Aside from simply flying around and shooting stuff, fans don't really know if there's anything else to do.
As a result, there's some worry that the game won't be as fully-featured as other releases. Sure, it'll be huge, but that doesn't matter if there's nothing fun to do. It doesn't help that the game's price and release date are still a mystery: gamers still don't know when they'll get to play it, or if it'll even be worth the price of admission in the first place.
After months of speculation, it seems that Sony may have let the cat out of the bag early: according to a now-removed listing on the PlayStation Blog (via EuroGamer), No Man's Sky preorders will open March 3 at the normal retail price of $60.
Now, as with all stories like this, it's important to take this information with a grain of salt. There's a chance that the game's $60 was merely a placeholder, or a simple mistake - until Sony or Hello Games make an official announcement, No Man's Sky has no official price or preorder date.
That being said, it looks like No Man's Sky is getting a $60 price tag. That may come as a shock to many, especially when most other independent games are released for a fraction of that price, but it's easy to see the logic here: No Man's Sky has been in development for years, and could be one of the biggest games ever released. Hello Games and Sony obviously want a return on their investment, and that's entirely understandable - but, whether or not the game actually warrants a full retail price tag is still up in the air.
If the listing is accurate, fans should know more about the game's release come tomorrow - otherwise, No Man's Sky is set for release sometime this June.
