The regulatory process has revealed a bit more about Samsung's yet-to-be announced successors to last year's Galaxy J7 and J5 smartphones. This time, there are pics to go along with the latest details to seep out about the Galaxy J7 and J5 (2016).
Last time, it was the Federal Communications Commission that got Samsung to share details about the set of handsets. This time, it's China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center.
Here's what was revealed.
The Galaxy J7 (2016), weighing in at 165 grams, will be offered in gold and in white. The quad-band handset has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display that puts out a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. It's stocked with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, with a memory card slot that'll support an extra 128 GB. The J7 (2016) is driven by a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz.
The Galaxy J5 (2016) is a little lighter, weighing in at 155.4 grams, because its screen is a bit smaller at 5.2-inches. Along with a smaller face, the J5 (2016) has a less brilliant display than its counterpart – a standard HD display with a pixel count of 720 x 1,280. Like the upcoming J7, the new J5 has been stocked with 16 GB. However, it only has 2 GB of RAM and it'll only support up to 64 GB of additional storage space via its memory card slot. It runs on a quad-core processor that's clocked at 1.2 GHz.
Both the Galaxy J7 and J5 appear to be kitted out with a 13-megapixel cameras on their backs and 5-megapixel cameras on their faces. And those rear cameras appear to be bolstered by laser autofocus, as PhoneArena points out, the introduction of which would be in the same spirit as Samsung's introduction of its first face LED flashes it gave to the previous version of the J7 and J5.
Though Samsung has yet to introduce the world to the Galaxy J7 (2016) and the Galaxy J5 (2016), it seems like it's just a matter of time now. The specs and mugshots have been revealed. Last month, the 2016 editions also already passed Bluetooth SIG certification. All that's mixing now is a bout of hype from home base and a release date.
