The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016 edition) recently showed up at the FCC and revealed that its power source is not as hefty as expected, packing only 3,300 mAh.
The FCC documentation is one in a long line of leaks and reveals. The handset recently went through GFXBench's database, so that Samsung fans found out more about the upcoming specs of the phone. Another important step in the official launch path was the device's appearance at the Bluetooth SIG.
By finally seeing the smartphone in FCC's database, we know that the official release is imminent.
Previous rumors claimed that Galaxy J7 sports a massive 4,300 mAh battery. The recent reveal, however, shows that the phone actually carries a 3,300 mAh power source. It might not be as impressive as former claims, but it still is 300 mAh bigger than the initial Galaxy J7 variant.
What is more, the 2016 model of Galaxy J7 will pack an Exynos 7870 CPU based on 14 nanometer technology, meaning that the 3,300 mAh battery should keep the device running for at least one day or maybe even two.
Based on the available information to date, Galaxy J7 (2016) seems to be a potent midrange handset.
It hosts a 5.5-inch screen that displays resolutions of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The amount of RAM memory is yet unknown, but insiders hint at 3 GB RAM that will back the Exynos 7870's processing power.
There is a high chance that the handset will feature a fingerprint sensor, as well.
The camera combo looks like this: a 5-megapixel frontal snapper will help its users with selfies, whereas a 12-megapixel main rear camera is there to take more complex shots.
The 16 GB of standard internal storage space will be ready to accommodate files and apps, but the phone does not limit itself to that. In its effort to set itself apart from the competition, Samsung might also equip the new midrange smartphone with a microSD slot for expanding the storage space.
The phone tested at the FCC is a SM-J7109, a dual-SIM version which is targeted at the Chinese market.
Previous benchmarks showed the Galaxy J7 (2016) comes with Android 6.0.1 pre-installed.
We will keep you posted as soon as more information breaks out about the Samsung Galaxy J7, 2016 edition.
