Rocket League fans will be happy to know that in Q3 of 2016, publisher 505 Games and gaming company Psyonix intend to roll out a retail release of the game.
In a new announcement, the two entities confirmed that hard copies of Rocket League: Collector's Edition will land in the proximity of gamers through local game or department stores. What is more, the retail copy will bring new content, details of which should come later this year.
According to Psyonix, the hard copy of Rocket League contains the previously released DLC packs, namely Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars, and Chaos Run.
"The final product will also include some cool, retail-exclusive goodies that we'll go into detail about closer to release," Psyonix says.
Retail versions will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Earlier in February, the Xbox One received the Rocket League installment, making it the third ecosystem where the game brings insanely fun and fast paced gameplay. Sometime after that, fans saw the developer and publisher releasing two more DLCs, the Halo Warthog and Dawn of Justice Batmobile, respectively.
Psyonix proudly states that the worldwide community reached 12 million players, who enjoy the frenetic in-car ball-chasing, and touts that it will support the game with determination and focus.
Just as a reminder, Rocket League's premise is as fun as it is ridiculous. In the game, you play soccer not with human players, but with rocket-powered cars. The game caught everyone's eye as soon as it launched, and was one of the undisputed indie hits in 2015 for both Steam and PS4.
The game scored fifth in the Steam bestselling game chart of 2015. This is no small feat, considering that it was pitted against titles such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and The Witcher 3. Reports indicate that the game already pulled $50 million in revenue.
So far, four million digital releases of Rocket League were made.
The next DLC car pack is expected to land on March 8, and it will carry the famous Batmobile. The name of the DLC is, not surprisingly, Batman v Superman Car Pack.
Psyonix puts every effort into expanding the Rocket League experience each month. In February, the gaming company announced a series of new map modes, named Utopia Retro, Underpass and Double Goal. Each of them should modify the gameplay in a refreshing manner.
