Google's Inbox email client is now a bit more useful for procrastinators, adding new options for the popular snooze feature.
Inbox by Gmail has been allowing users to "snooze" emails until a better time, just like they'd snooze that alarm clock in the morning. The updated version of the app now offers much more than the simple snooze option, it also allows users to choose when to see that email again.
"Snoozing emails is great because it helps you focus on what you need to do now instead of what you can put off until later," says Google. "Starting today, Snooze is getting a new look and two time-saving improvements - all based on your feedback."
First of all, Inbox now enables users to snooze emails until "Later this week" or "This weekend." According to Google, these two options have been highly-requested by users.
"These new options should hopefully save you some time, and decrease the need to use custom snooze," adds Google.
As you can see in the image above, snooze options now include "Later today," "Tomorrow," "Next week," "Next weekend," and "Someday." Users can also pick the date and time, as well as the place.
While these new features may seem insignificant at first, once you get to use them you actually realize that they offer so much more than just the simple "Snooze" - they enable better timing and more control over your emails and reminders.
The "Someday" snooze option may seem a bit weird or unnecessary, but it could actually come in handy when you have something that's good to know, but you don't really need it now or at a precise time in the future.
Moreover, users can also set up their Inbox with their preferred time and date to receive emails, which could come in handy for those who have a routine of checking their email around the same time each day or week.
The new Inbox snooze options may not be live for everyone right now, as the feature is still rolling out. Google expects to complete the rollout in the coming week, so all users should get it soon enough.
Now that we have new snooze options, maybe we could also get audible notifications for incoming emails on desktop? How about that, Google?
