Neverending Nightmares is a highly commended PC horror indie game, and PlayStation 4 and Vita owners will see the game creep into their consoles soon enough.
The unique mixture of psychological exploration and horror will land on Sony's ecosystem in the first half of the year, after spending almost two years on PC, Mac, Linux and Ouya.
Neverending Nightmares started off as a Kickstarter campaign that aimed and succeeded to raise $100,000.
In the title, gamers play as Thomas, a young man waking up from a dreadful nightmare. He starts wandering around his house and his encounters makes players wonder if Thomas is actually awake or not.
Dark emotions and memories that haunt the main character start to unravel, immersing the human player into the experience.
"Neverending Nightmares is designed to explore the darkest and most negative emotions - fear, horror, anxiety, hopelessness, pain and frustration," says Matt Gilgenbach, creative director of Infinitap Games.
The game stands out due to its (mostly) monochromatic 2D visuals, which best portray the inner frets of the character.
The gaming company notes that it did improve "plenty of rough edges" in the console installment, thus helping players move around easier and recognize the game's turning points.
Gilgenbach underlines that polishing the game for the Sony's ecosystem makes the experience stand out. He goes on to add that, although Neverending Nightmares is a game, it qualifies better as an "experience."
The new installment of the game will get 1080p graphics, as well as 60 fps rates with antialiasing, both on PlayStation 4 and Vita. The extra sharpness of the visuals is not the only advantage console players will get.
PlayStation offers the option to cross buy Neverending Nightmares, meaning that if you purchase the PS4 version of the title, you get the Vita game for free. It works just as well in reverse: buy the Vita variant, get the PS4 game for no additional charge.
What is more, cross save is also enabled from the get go. Should you own both consoles from Sony, you can save your game progression on one console and continue on the other. Pro tip: to fully enjoy the chilling soundtrack of Neverending Nightmares, invest in a pair of above-average headphones for your Vita.
