Ubisoft Launches ‘Assassin’s Creed Identity’ For iOS, Promises Android Release This Spring

Ubisoft has finally launched the mobile version of Assassin's Creed dubbed Assassin's Creed Identity, which it announced in September 2014, for iOS users worldwide.

On Thursday, the much-awaited action RPG was rolled out for iOS users. Initially, the game surfaced only on the iTunes store in India and was priced at INR 300. However, Assassin's Creed Identity is now listed in the U.S. App Store as well for $4.99 so iPhone and iPad users in the country can breathe easy.

The Assassin's Creed Identity was a soft launch until late January and has a checkered history since its 2014 announcement. In January this year, the game suddenly vanished from the App Store without any warning. A few days later, Ubisoft made the announcement that the game had been reconfigured as a paid title and would be officially launching globally on Feb. 25.

Video game developer Ubisoft has just announced its plans to bring Assassin's Creed Identity to Android devices later this spring. The game launched on the iOS App Store earlier this morning for $4.99, and we're assuming the Android version will follow the same pricing structure.

The iOS version of Assassin's Creed Identity is 1.15 GB, which means that one will require a minimum of 2.3 GB free space to install the title on their iPad or iPhone.

While the Assassin's Creed Identity app for Android users is still missing, they need not fret as Ubisoft confirmed to publication Android Authority that the title would make its way to Android devices by spring this year. The exact date of release, however, is not known.

"As of right now Ubisoft has only given us the vague 'sometime in spring 2016' regarding the launch date, so we're not entirely sure when we should be expecting it to come to Android," notes the publication.

Assassin's Creed Identity is an action-oriented RPG which will enable users to customize their specific Assassin or character with a slew of weapons and outfits. Users even have the option of choosing a class for their character: Shadow Blade, Thief, Trickster or Berserker.

The goal is to explore the Italian Renaissance with one's assassin and finish the numerous missions in a bid to decode the mystery surrounding The Crows. Players can level-up their assassin while playing and gathering several items during their journey. Controlling the character is easy and one can do so by tapping to move them.

Download the Assassin's Creed Identity app for iOS for $4.99 from iTunes App Store. It is compatible with devices running iOS 7 or above.
