Assassin's Creed fans are intimately familiar with the Italian Renaissance thanks to it being the setting of Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Now, Ubisoft is taking players there once again in the newly-announced Assassin's Creed Identity, an upcoming mobile game for iOS devices.
The game is an action RPG that will allow players to craft their own assassin. Players will choose from one of four classes (Beserker, Shadow Blade, Trickster and Thief), with each class having different strengths and weaknesses. Beserker is for direct combat, whereas Shadow Blade is for players who prefer taking the stealthy route.
There will be both story missions and "endless" side quests, according to Ubisoft. Locations said to be featured in the game include the Colosseum in Rome and Santa Croce in Florence. Assassin's Creed Identity runs on the Unity game engine and supports multiple control schemes, such as gamepads, tap to move and dual stick.
If you're interested in playing, you'll need an iPad 3 (or later generations) or an iPhone 5 (or later) with iOS 7 installed. Assassin's Creed Identity is being developed by Blue Byte, the makers of The Settlers.
So, what does the game actually look like in action? All we have to go on right now is a cinematic trailer, but Ubisoft says more details on the game will be coming on Feb. 3. We'll have more then.
