Ronda Rousey Still Wants To Dominate Hollywood: Sets Her Eyes On Samus In 'Metroid' Movie

Ronda Rousey may be back and training for her rematch against Holly Holm, but outside the octagon, she still has her sights set on Hollywood. It's no secret that the MMA fighter would love to play Captain Marvel in a movie adaptation of the super heroine, but we have also learned that another gender stereotype breaking character she would love to play on film is Samus from Metroid.

Rousey revealed in an interview with GameSpot that she loved how it came as a surprise to most players that a woman was inside the powerful, bulky armor that Samus wears in the video game.

“I've always wanted to be Samus. That would be badass. I love how people found out later that it was a hot chick on the inside. And then most of the day you're in a suit, so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of Metroid. I hope they make a movie out of that,” she said.

Samus Aran is the heroine of Metroid, a video game developed by Nintendo. She was a soldier of the Galactic Federation and went rogue to become a bounty hunter. Her suit is an exoskeleton that covers her entire body and face and is equipped with missiles and other energy weapons. It has been almost a quarter century since her first appearance in 1986 and remains one of the gaming industry's most beloved and powerful female characters.

Rousey may actually be a good fit to play the role of Samus in a film adaptation of Metroid. According to the “Super Metroid Player's Guide,” Samus is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 198 pounds. Although she comes a bit shorter than Samus, Rousey's athletic build of 135 pounds (depending on the training regimen of the season) and 5 feet 7 inches stature could make her physically capable of looking the part of a woman who must wear the heavy exoskeleton and be a badass all over the galaxy all in a day's work.

Although a Metroid movie is not yet on the radar for any studio, Rousey is currently working on another popular video game title. She has been doing motion capture for her character in EA Sports UFC 2 where she is featured on the cover. She is also currently working on “Road House,” a remake of the 1989 action flick where she will take over the role originally played by Patrick Swayze
