It has long been rumored that WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on April 3 will be the scene of The Undertaker's final match.
The road to WrestleMania, which will include the WWE Fastlane pay per view on Sunday, has already been keeping the rumor mill busy with possible opponents for The Phenom on The Grandest Stage of Them All in just less than a month and a half now.
John Cena and Braun Strowman have been a couple of names thrown out there to marinate amongst the WWE Universe on social media to either rant or stew about, with every emotion in between.
Well, we wanted to delve a little deeper — while beating the Fastlane ppv to the punch in the process — and name five possible opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
Who's it going to be?
John Cena
More than any rumored opponent, the possibility of John Cena trying to upset The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 continues to stick. And hey, despite Cena coming off shoulder surgery last month, it should for a few reasons. The first being if there's one WWE Superstar tough enough to get in the squared circle in front of a possible 100,000-plus fans — less than three full months removed from surgery — it's Cena.
The second being that The Undertaker has been a flagship, pillar superstar for the WWE for well over 25 years now, with Cena being the face of the company for the past decade. Add that to the fact that the two never fought at WrestleMania and the match just makes sense. Now, whether Cena could muster the strength and get the medical clearance to give it a shot remains to be seen. But the match would thrill. Main event status for sure.
Braun Strowman
The behemoth of The Wyatt Family held his own against The Big Show this past Monday Night Raw, before the rest of his brethren jumped into the ring to feed on the show like vultures. As physically imposing and sinister as Braun Strowman is, though, it seems like the WWE Universe hates the idea of The Undertaker facing the monster at WrestleMania 32.
We can't disagree, either. A Strowman-Undertaker match would feel like a forced job to us. Strowman is still fairly new to the WWE and it just feels like he needs to make more of a dent up the ranks before facing the Dead Man. Still, he's definitely on the radar for now. Do you agree?
The Rock
In late December, The Rock announced that he'll be on hand at WrestleMania 32 on April 3. However, after hosting Monday Night Raw last month, the WWE Universe still doesn't know in what capacity The Great One will serve on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Well, here's an idea ... The Rock vs. The Undertaker. Hey, why not? Would you believe that as many times as the legends faced each other, they have never fought under the bright lights of WrestleMania? That, in itself, would be a great reason to book the match. If it is the Taker's last match, too, imagine the nod of respect The Rock would be showing him, leaving the movies aside to face The Phenom. You'd be hard-pressed to find members of the WWE Universe that don't like the sound of this.
Kurt Angle
The WWE could sorely use a shot of Intensity, Integrity and Intelligence in the form of Kurt Angle. During an interview late last year, the former Olympic gold medalist and WWE Superstar didn't seem to completely shut the door on a return to the company.
If he does enter the WWE's squared circle again, facing The Undertaker would sort of go down as a match for the ages, wouldn't it? Angle's in good enough shape and still has the technical prowess to make it intriguing, while judging from recent photos, The Dead Man might be in the greatest shape we have seen him in recently.
Kevin Owens
One thing about Kevin Owens is that he more than delivers when he's embroiled in a heated feud. If the WWE could spark an intriguing war between K.O. and The Undertaker at Fastlane, it could have the company and its fans reaping explosive pay dirt come WrestleMania 32 on April 3.
Simply put, Owens has it all in the ring and could push the Taker to the limits the same way he did John Cena in their series of matches last year. The only thing about this possibility is that it has to be sparked the right way in the storylines to maximize its output in comparison with the aforementioned four opponents, who sort of just show up and the bout speaks for itself.
Out of the five possibilities, who would you most like to see face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32?
