Microsoft announced a lineup of new features of its note taking software OneNote for Mac and iOS users.
These new features are just some of the ways that show how the company is keen on enhancing the experience for Mac users after it has made OneNote available for free in March 2014.
"People frequently asked us for OneNote on Mac, and for more ways to capture content," wrote the OneNote Team in a blog post. "Today we're excited to complete that story with three major developments. OneNote for Mac is available for the first time and for free."
With the latest announcement from the team, OneNote for Mac and iOS now makes it easier for users to perform tasks, share notes and more in a few simple steps.
The first among the list of new features highlights the OneNote's support for adding crisp lines, polygons and various other geometric shapes that users can access by using the Insert menu. Other OneNote versions such as the PC, iPad and Windows 10 all have support in adding shapes at a certain degree with tablet users being able to draw shapes and then have them transformed into smoother-looking scribble work.
Next off in the list is the enhanced Search function which now allows Mac users to search all of their OneDrive notebooks as opposed to being restricted to search into a single notebook that they are currently looking into. Users can even search for topics that they are currently reading.
Users who intend to make their notebooks accessible can now easily do so in a single tap through Docs.com. These include sharing notes on interesting local sights and popular hangouts, teacher-made lesson plans and even notes that were taken inside the classroom.
The OneNote team also created a so-called "personal email filing" feature which allows users to save an email together with all their gathered notes. Users can simply forward an email to me@onenote.com in order to start setting up an email to OneNote.
Perhaps one of the most notable changes is the new Crop tool which allows users to crop any part of an image in OneNote Online. Mac users can now customize the size of an image depending on their needs.
Other new features of the latest OneNote version for Mac include the ability to remove notebooks from OneNote Online, the addition of the OneNote Clipper extension on Firefox and Safari and Office Lens integration in OneNote for Windows 10 which allows users to scan documents directly into OneNote with just one tap.
